Directions to Gyms In Hickory
Highland Recreation Center at Stanford Park
I-40 to Exit 126 (McDonald Parkway). If traveling East on I-40, you will turn left at the light off the exit ramp onto McDonald Parkway. If traveling West on I-40, you will turn right at the light off the exit ramp. Once you pass the lights there at the interstate you will travel straight approximately 4.6 miles to the 7th stoplight (McDonald Parkway will turn into 24th Street NE after the 6th stoplight). Turn left at the 7th stoplight onto 16th Street NE (SECU will be on your left and Family Video to your right). Travel straight approximately 1.3 miles through one stoplight (16th Street NE becomes 8th Street Dr. NE) until you reach Highland Recreation Center on your right. Once you enter through the park entrance gates, bear left to the recreation center parking lot.
Hickory High School
I-40 to Exit 125 (Lenoir Rhyne Blvd.). If traveling east on I-40, you will turn left off the exit ramp onto Lenoir Rhyne Blvd SE; if traveling west on I-40, you will turn right off the exit ramp onto Lenoir Rhyne Blvd SE. Go to 4th stoplight and turn left onto 1st Avenue SE. Travel to 1st stoplight, which is the intersection of 1st Avenue SE and Highway 127. Turn right onto Highway 127 North and travel to the 5th stoplight (at Exxon Station) and turn right. At the stoplight, you will see Hickory High School immediately in front of you. Turn left and the gym will be on the right.
Lenoir Rhyne College
Located only ˝ mile from Hickory High School above (see directions for Hickory High School). At the stoplight, turn right (instead of left). Go through 1 stoplight and Lenoir Rhyne College gym and parking lot will be just ahead on your right.
St. Stephens High School
I-40 to Exit 126 (McDonald Parkway). If traveling east on I-40, you will turn left off the exit ramp. If traveling west on I-40, you will turn right off the exit ramp. You will be traveling on McDonald Parkway. Go approximately 3.1 miles to 6th stoplight (Hess Gas Station/Convenience Store on right at this light). Turn right onto Springs Road and go to 4th stoplight (approximately 1.4 miles). Turn left onto 34th Street Dr. NE and travel down until you see Saint Stephens High School. Turn left and follow street to gym in back of school.
Neill Clark Jr. Recreation Center
I-40 to Exit 125 (Lenoir Rhyne Blvd.). If traveling east on I-40, you will turn left off the exit ramp onto Lenoir Rhyne Blvd SE; if traveling west on I-40, you will turn right off the exit ramp onto Lenoir Rhyne Blvd SE. Go to 4th stoplight and turn left onto 1st Avenue SE. Travel to 1st stoplight, which is the intersection of 1st Avenue SE and Highway 127. Turn right onto Highway 127 North and travel to the 11th stoplight (Rite Aid drugstore on the right). Turn left onto Huffman Cove Road (29th Ave Dr. NW). Travel approximately 1.1 miles and the Neill Clark facility and gym will be on your right. Gym and parking is behind the main building.
Northview Middle School
I-40 to Exit 125 (Lenoir Rhyne Blvd.). If traveling east on I-40, you will turn left off the exit ramp onto Lenoir Rhyne Blvd SE; if traveling west on I-40, you will turn right off the exit ramp onto Lenoir Rhyne Blvd SE. Go to 4th stoplight and turn left onto 1st Avenue SE. Travel to 1st stoplight, which is the intersection of 1st Avenue SE and Highway 127. Turn right onto Highway 127 North and travel until you go through the 10th stoplight (McDonalds on left). After the 10th stoplight, look for 28th Avenue NE on the right side of the road. This street is between Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and Rite-Aid. Turn right onto 28th Avenue NE (If you get to the 11th stoplight, you went too far). Follow 28th Avenue NE to the end of the road and the school will be on your right. You enter the gym by going to the back side of the school on the lower level.
Fred T. Foard High School (3407 Plateau Road, Newton)
I-40 to Exit 123 (Highway 321 Lenoir/Lincolnton/Gastonia). If traveling east on I-40, you will take the first exit off the ramp to Highway 321 South (Lincolnton, Gastonia). You will stay in right lane and merge onto Highway 321 South (Lincolnton, Gastonia) to Highway 127 South. If traveling west on I-40, you will take the 2nd exit off the interstate to Highway 321 South. You will merge onto Highway 321 South to NC- 127. Take the Highway 127 South exit. At the top of the ramp, turn right. Stay straight on NC-127 South for approximately 5.5 miles. After going straight through the intersection on NC-127 South and Highway 10, the school will be approximately ˝ on the right. Pass in front of school and gym will be on the left side of the school.
Grandview Middle School
I-40 to Exit 125 (Lenoir Rhyne Blvd.). If traveling east on I-40, you will turn right off the exit ramp onto Lenoir Rhyne Blvd SE; if traveling west on I-40, you will turn left off the exit ramp onto Lenoir Rhyne Blvd SE. Travel through stoplight intersection of LR Blvd SE and Highway 70 (road becomes Robinson Road). Go to the 2nd stoplight (Catawba Valley Blvd SE) after this intersection. Turn right at this stoplight (car dealerships on both sides) and continue on to stop sign. Go through stop sign and the school will be on your right immediately past the City of Hickory’s Fire Station #7. You use the second lower entrance to the school and the gym will be located midway down the parking lot on the right.
